Executive MBA Modules -Brief Description

MBA600: Business Research
The module covers both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. It also introduces the complex world of research in social science using systems thinking, along with multiple intelligences.
MBA601: Technological Influences on Finance and Innovation
The module provides learners with an understanding of the integration among finance, banking, innovation and technology.  Learners explore how current firms are leveraging technologies to create and sustain organizational successes. The module challenges learners to develop systemic insight on the interconnectedness of organizational functions with a specific focus on finance, innovation and technology; The module also introduces the role of technology as one of the systemic integration elements for the course. It illustrates the importance of integration among various fields in order to stay ahead in a competitive environment.
MBA602: Leading and Managing Effective Teams
The module focuses on the most recent theories and concepts to assess and develop empowering teams within a global environment. The module also provides a strategic assessment between leadership and management actions that drive effective teams, while introducing emotional intelligence as one of the systemic integration elements for the course.
MBA603: Project Management and Organizational Learning
This module examines the organization, planning, and controlling of projects and provides practical knowledge on managing project scope, schedule, and resources. The module exposes learners to global project management and how multinational organizations utilize it to lower costs, speed up new product roll-outs, and enhance customer satisfaction.  The module also introduces organizational knowledge management systems along with learning processes.
MBA604: Corporate Strategy Formulation
This module provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges associated with disruptive technological advances in an increasingly globalized business environment. The module allows learners to better understand how to navigate internal and external complexities while utilizing a systemic approach to creating and executing strategic initiatives. Learners are provided a variety of relevant models and frameworks in order to manage organizational strategies in an international marketplace, while seeking to obtain a sustainable competitive advantage.
MBA605: Integrative Corporate Finance and Governance
The module integrates the traditional tools of corporate finance with an eye towards governance implications of management actions.  Addressing the subject in a comparative and interdisciplinary manner, the module also explores the nature of the corporation, the basic theory of the firm, and the internal and external architecture of corporate governance.
MBA606: Global Business Forces: Macroeconomics and Microeconomics
This module provides learners the theoretical framework to forecast potential global macroeconomic and microeconomic case studies. The theoretical framework includes monetary and interest policies of central banks, tax policies and exchange rate policies. The module elaborates on different policy perspectives of different economists and schools of economic thought. Topics also include demand and cost estimation, production decisions, pricing, analysis at competitive market structures, and antitrust issues.
MBA607: Global Marketing and Diversity
This module prepares learners to appreciate the dynamics of cross cultural diversity and to make informed managerial decisions in an increasingly globalized business environment. The module content demonstrates how the generic principles of marketing could be applied to diverse global marketplaces. The module has an interdisciplinary approach and offers critical cross-national, and cross-functional perspectives.
MBA608: Solution-Based Decision Making
This module provides a review and analysis of theories and models in decision making. Rather than taking a conventional problem-based approach, the module focuses on the ideal solution that is systemic in nature. The module challenges learners to view the entire system at work, rather than as separate parts of the system.
MBA609: Ethical Foundations and Corporate Social Responsibility
This module focuses on the core values that drive ethical decisions, which consider the broader environment along with honoring self. While literature on leadership and ethics is abundant, the focus on aligning one’s core values and a systemic consideration is the focus of this module. Along with developing complex thought processes, organizational practices for corporate social responsibility is examined. 

Program Specialization

Our Executive MBA includes three specializations:

  • Strategic Finance: Designed for aspiring leaders in the finance and/or strategy field, this unique specialization combines the technical skills of finance with strategic thinking.   • Systemic Leadership: Designed for the those who wish to realize their leadership potentials, this powerful specialization helps build the key skills of a transformational leader who can lead any organization with great efficiency. Specialization: Strategic Finance

FIN630: Balancing Financial Risk
The module focuses on managing various components of business risk using case studies and real-world assessments. The module addresses how to control for market and credit risks. Learners examine in-depth management of assets and liabilities in combination with other risks that stem from using financial instruments such as financial derivatives. Reputational risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, and ultimately risk of default also are  analyzed.
FIN631: Financial Analysis
The module explores financial concepts used in financial statement reporting, financial analysis, and investments. Topics include creating and understanding a financial statement, appreciating financial disclosure issues, developing a budget, and evaluating cash-flow projections. The module provides insight into financial reports and analysis of the financial position and the operating results of business organizations, including several techniques.
FIN702: Financial Systems and Proactive Controls in Financial Management
The module provides learners with the knowledge, insight, and analytical skills related to how an international corporation designs and implements systems to plan, implement, control, and manage firm financial performance across the globe. As the final module within the course, the module takes a systemic overview of business that drives globalization while beginning to focus learners on their capstone project.

Specialization: SYSTEMATIC Leadership 

LDR610: Transformational leadership
The module offers an in-depth comparative analysis of the different theories of leadership with an emphasis on cultural adaptations. The module focuses on application of relevant leadership theories within unique cultural contexts. The module provides special focus on transformational leadership, and offers the ability for learners the opportunity to systemically develop transformational leadership in organizations while integrating cultural intelligence.
LRD611: Strategic Design and implementation
The module provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of change development process exposing learners to the numerous multivariate steps, processes, components and issues that need to be considered in order to gain and sustain a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
LDR700: Building an Emotionally intelligent system of Business
The module provides learners with the integration of the people and systems in business. Starting at the individual level, the module focuses on a conscious development process for emotional intelligence as leaders. Using the past experiences of emotional intelligence throughout the course, learners learn to strategically build emotional intelligence from the individual to the organizational level.

Specialization: Entrepreneurship

ENT620: Systemic Thought in Entrepreneurship
The module focuses on innovation as the necessary driver of success for any organization. Innovation from creativity can be a systematic discipline that exists in all forms of organizations. With the focus on creating systemic processes that burst with innovation, the module balances the role of individual entrepreneurship and organizational innovation. 
ENT621: Managing Small Enterprises
The module introduces learners to the concept of entrepreneurship in business management. The focus is to provide learners with the knowledge and skill to maximize opportunities to grow their business through innovation. The module includes lessons on operational management, marketing, supply chain, competitive advantage, financial accounting, and personal development within the context of a small business environment.
ENT701: Competitive Advantage—Creating Learning Systems in Entrepreneurial Management
The module weaves learning from the core modules into a systemic perspective of achieving competitive advantage in entrepreneurship.  The module explores both established and emerging approaches in marketplace approaches to achieve competitive advantage for small and medium sized enterprises within a cultural context. Learners design a proactive learning system within a small and mid-size enterprise.

Schedule for Executive MBA

The Executive MBA program offers tremendous flexibility for the busy working executive. The program takes place over a period of approximately 21 months, with 13 Residencies (one for each module), plus the Oral Defense of a Master Capstone Project and Graduation Ceremony, held at the Malta campus. The first 10 modules are conducted during the first year of the course. The final three specialization modules are offered during the second year plus approximately four months is allotted for the completion of a Master Capstone Project. Each residency includes a  four-day day long weekend  (Thursday through Sunday). These residencies are highly intensive face-to-face learning experiences occurring within the classroom setting. Learners will have readings and preparation before each residency as well as post residency assignments including, but not limited to, term papers, team work projects, and application projects. During each term, the first module will have its residency on the 4th week of the term, while the second module will have its residency during the 7th week of the term. The purpose of grouping two modules into a term is to build integration of understanding among module subjects. Using a groundbreaking curriculum design, Transcontinental Institution of Higher Education integrates systems thinking, emotional intelligence and technology throughout the course unlike any other program in the world. All modules are taught by global experts with renowned recognition and practical experience. Each module extends well beyond traditional theories in addressing the many challenges facing today’s business environment within a local and global context.

Admission Process

Prospective TI students apply by submitting a completed TI Application Form as well as the TI Questionnaire, along with a €100 application fee. A completed application also includes each of the items listed below, submitted to TI by set deadlines:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree Transcript
    • A relevant MQF/EQF L6 degree at second class, OR
    • A MQF/EQF L6 degree plus a portfolio evidencing relevant work experience for at least 3 years, OR
    • A MQF/EQF L5 full qualification AND portfolio evidencing professional and/or executive level work experience for at least 5 years
  2. Portfolio evidencing professional and/or executive level work experience for at least 4 years with 2 years of managerial work experience
  3. Three (3) Work References
  4. Personal Essay – including personal passions, values, and vision
Once an application is considered complete and the applicant is considered qualified, the prospective learner will be sent an acceptance letter delivered via email, along with an invitation for an individual meeting with one of TI's learner achievement advisor. This meeting, designed to ensure the applicant has made an informed decision, will be scheduled as a one-hour discussion using viable technology such as Skype.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Entry requirements for the Executive MBA course are as follows:
  1. Bachelor degree from an accredited institution (MQF/EQF L6 degree)
    • A relevant MQF/EQF L6 degree at second class, OR
    • A MQF/EQF L6 degree plus a portfolio evidencing relevant work experience for at least 3 years, OR
    • A MQF/EQF L5 full qualification, AND a portfolio evidencing professional and/or executive level work experience for at least 5 years
    • A GPA of 3.0 or higher
  2. Minimum 2 years of managerial work experience and 4 years of professional and/or executive work experience
  3. Ability to comprehensively communicate in English including writing and analytical skills to ensure that the prospective candidate can fully and meaningfully participate in course work (assessed through their Personal Essay)
  4. Established credible references
  5. Alignment between TI values and prospective learner values
